JordanTBH Technologies (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the IP Address Tool Chrome Extension. This policy explains what the extension accesses, where information is sent, and what is stored locally.
What the extension does
IP Address Tool displays the public IPv4 and IPv6 addresses used by your internet connection. It can periodically check those addresses and optionally notify you when they change.
Information sent to IP providers
When the popup is opened, when you manually refresh, or when background notifications are enabled, the extension sends requests to the single IP provider selected by you. The request necessarily exposes your public IP address to that provider, along with normal network request information such as the request time and information that may be included by your browser or network.
The available providers are:
- IPify — the default provider and its privacy statement.
- SeeIP — alternative provider and its privacy statement.
- ident.me — alternative provider and its privacy and logging statement.
These providers operate independently of JordanTBH Technologies. Their own privacy and retention practices apply to requests sent to them. Please review the linked provider information before selecting a provider.
Uninstall feedback
If you uninstall the extension, Chrome may open the extension’s uninstall-feedback page at developers.jordantbh.me/blog/sorry-to-see-you-go. Before that can happen, the extension generates a cryptographically random 48-character token and stores it in Chrome’s extension-local storage. While the extension is installed, it registers that token with the shared JordanTBH Technologies WordPress/Forminator feedback service.
The registration request contains only the token, the stable product identifier ip-address-tool, the display name IP Address Tool, and the installed extension version. It does not include your IP lookup results, browsing history, cookies, account information, or other extension settings. The token is included in the uninstall URL so the feedback page can distinguish a genuine uninstall flow from a directly visited or invalid link.
The feedback page accepts a valid registered token only once. Missing, malformed, unknown, expired, or already-used tokens are redirected to the unavailable page. The current shared WordPress gate retains a registration for up to two years and records a used-token marker for up to two years; the token is then unusable after successful feedback submission. The local token is not synchronized between Chrome profiles.
The feedback form is operated through WordPress and Forminator. Any feedback, name, or email address that you voluntarily submit is sent to and retained by the website operator according to the website’s privacy and retention practices. Name and email fields are intended to be used only when you ask to be contacted.
Information we do not collect
- We do not collect your browsing history.
- We do not collect website content, form data, passwords, cookies, or account information.
- We do not receive the IP lookup response through a JordanTBH Technologies server.
- We do not use the extension’s IP results for advertising, profiling, or sale to data brokers.
- We do not include analytics or tracking code in the extension.
Local storage
The extension stores your provider choice, notification preference, refresh interval, theme preference, and the previous IPv4/IPv6 values used to detect changes in Chrome’s extension-local storage. The theme’s Auto option only reads your device’s color-scheme preference locally. These values remain on your device and are not sent to us. Removing the extension or clearing its extension data removes this locally stored information.
Notifications and clipboard
If enabled, Chrome notifications may display your IP address when it changes or when you copy an address. When you use a copy button, the selected value is written to your system clipboard. These actions are performed by Chrome and are not sent to us.
Install and update pages
The first-run welcome page and version-update page included with the extension are local extension pages. They let you choose a provider, notifications, refresh interval, and theme; those choices are saved only to Chrome’s extension-local storage. The uninstall-feedback registration described above is the only lifecycle-related data sent to the JordanTBH Technologies WordPress feedback service.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
Any information handled by the extension is used only to provide its single purpose: displaying and monitoring the user’s public IP addresses. Information is not sold, used for personalized advertising, or transferred except where necessary to provide the selected IP lookup service, comply with law, or protect the security of the service.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the extension’s data practices change. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when changes are made.
